| 2013-03-31When we sum up the 2012, we can see that much has happened during the year. The situation in Egypt has become more and more difficult and the economic situation has worsened considerably.
The number of children at the orphanage is just over 40 and the girls who lived in the apartment in Shubra Shema have moved back to the orphanage. The idea of a satellite accommodation was good but the environment they found themselves in was not the best for their development. Now they are excited to be back and have an apartment on the top floor with own kettle so they can offer me a cup of coffee.
The studies are important for them all and they put a lot of time to do homework. Some students succeed quite well. Hannan who quit high school to summer is working extra to be able to start her studies at University. Bibo who also quit the high school in the summer will begin to work at the orphanage and caring for an apartment with young boys.
The young people always appreciate a visit to the KFC. It is important for them to be able to make trips to changing environment and get outside the orphanage.

| 2012-12-01All the young people at the orphanage on Muqattam have different dreams about the future. Someone wants to become a doctor, another pastor. It would be fantastic if we could help them to fulfill their dreams.
I have visited the orphanage two times in the autumn and I feel always the joy of life and ambition. Children are a tight-knit group; it feels as if they were one large sibling group.
Right now, two of the youth are studying in high school.
They are both studying in a practical program. Bibo is going to be an electrician and Hannan is on her last term in the hotel and restaurant program.
Next year, three more of the youth are going to start the education at high school. Imagine if we could start a Scholarship Fund for these youth so they could study the program they want to.

| 2011-12-01I have many greetings to you all from our friends in Egypt. I have had the privilege to spend more than two months there this autumn. At the same time as the life is going on, we can see that it is much which has changed during 2011. The positive thing that has happened is that people are more involved in civic affairs. They are excited to say what they think and feel. Autumn has been marked by demonstrations and many participate in them with great enthusiasm. Both Christians and Muslims demonstrate for a civil society where everyone should be treated equally.
